Able Seaman is responsible for assisting navigation officers and performing deck maintenance activities onboard the vessel. Duties include steering the ship during watchkeeping, handling mooring operations, maintaining deck equipment, and participating in safety drills. The position also requires regular inspection of safety equipment and assisting cargo operations when necessary.
Candidates for this role should possess good seamanship knowledge, experience with deck machinery, and familiarity with international maritime safety regulations. Previous LNG or tanker vessel experience is considered an advantage.
Cook is responsible for preparing daily meals for officers and crew members onboard the vessel. This includes menu planning, food inventory management, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring proper food storage according to health and hygiene standards.
A vessel cook must be capable of preparing meals for multinational crew members while maintaining consistent food quality throughout the voyage. Experience working onboard international vessels and knowledge of food safety procedures are highly preferred.
Bosun supervises deck ratings and coordinates maintenance work assigned by deck officers. Responsibilities include overseeing painting activities, deck repairs, cargo gear maintenance, and mooring operations. The Bosun also ensures that deck equipment remains in safe operational condition.
Strong leadership skills and extensive deck operation experience are important qualifications for this role. Bosuns are expected to guide deck crews effectively while maintaining discipline and safety compliance onboard.
Oiler assists engine officers in maintaining engine room machinery and operational equipment. Daily duties include machinery lubrication, equipment monitoring, engine room cleaning, and assisting during maintenance activities.
Candidates should have technical knowledge of marine engines, pumps, compressors, and engine room safety procedures. Previous tanker or LNG vessel experience can provide an additional advantage for applicants seeking this position.
Wiper supports engine department activities by maintaining cleanliness in the engine room and assisting engineering staff during routine maintenance. This entry-level position provides valuable onboard experience for seafarers beginning their maritime careers.
Wipers are expected to demonstrate strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and the ability to follow instructions from senior engine crew members. This role often serves as a pathway toward higher engine department positions in the future.
