On Monday or Tuesday, an LR2 tanker was hit by a projectile during a transit of the Strait of Hormuz, injuring 12 seafarers and prompting a medevac response. (ON PEACE). https://t.co/hJsHuRzFCFOctober 5, 2026
The vessel has been identified by India and Oman as the tanker On Peace, a 115,000 dwt LR2 built in 2021. It appears to be the unnamed vessel that was hit on an outbound transit off the Musandam Peninsula on Monday and reported to UKMTO, but India and Oman reported that the attack occurred Tuesday.
It was the 12th likely Iranian attack since last Wednesday, and by far the most impactful for the crew. The Indian government’s internal affairs ministry confirmed that 11 of the 12 injured seafarers were Indian nationals, and expressed gratitude to Omani authorities for a prompt medevac to Khasab for treatment.
“The targeting of commercial shipping, seafarers and civilian infrastructure in the region must end, and navigation and commerce through international waterways must be restored at the earliest,” the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
