Atlas NextWave are seeking an Electrician to join our client’s semi-submersible crane vessel in the UK waters, starting on the 19th of August for 5 or 10 weeks duration.Due to the location of the vessel within 12 nautical miles, the candidates must be UK citizens or hold a UK Frontier Worker Permit.

Job description Primary Purpose:The function and objectives of your team and how your role contributes to meet the Companies objectives.To execute installation activities and preventative maintenance as directed by the Electrician 1 or 2 on the electrical infrastructure of the construction vessel, with particular emphasis on DP, heavy lift and high voltage power supply systems. Ensures compliance to the existing Company policies, safety procedures, guidelines and established sound working practices, while being a member of the Electrical Section of the Technical Department.Accountabilities:Accountability is the acknowledgment and assumption of responsibility for actions, output, decisions, and policies within the scope of the role or employment position and an encompassing obligation to report, explain and be answerable for resulting consequences.The accountabilities include:· Ensures safe execution of assigned electrical department tasks, in accordance with standing instructions and Company guidelines, with particular emphasis on Vessel Specific Systems, the Permit to Work System, electrical stands, and QHSE policies and procedures· Ensures a safe working environment for both themselves and co-workers while complying with the Chief Engineer’s Standing Orders· Adheres to, trains and enforces safe working practices, HMC principles, Personal Protective Equipment discipline and Incident & Injury Free (IIF) principles· Assists with compiling JSAs (where applicable) and takes part in Toolbox meetings· Carries out assigned electrical repair and maintenance duties and operational tasks in a safe, efficient and effective manner· Keeps a vigilant watch over the machinery and electrical systems of the semi-submersible vessel, heavy lift cranes, surface and subsea construction equipment· Keeps the Duty Engineers, Maritime Automation Engineer and Electricians informed about any irregularities discovered and the corrective action taken· Initiates the preparations for a Permit to Work when conditions require it· Has a good working knowledge of the semi-submersible vessel and construction equipment electrical and control systems· Maintains working knowledge of the electrical function and control systems for High Voltage Power generation, Dynamic Positioning, Heavy Lift and vessel support systems· Assists with operations on deck and in the heavy lift cranes involving the electrical connection, power generation and supply, repair and modification of the surface and subsea construction, pre-heat and welding equipment · Ensures that all operations within their area of responsibility are executed in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with relevant IMO Resolutions (ISM/SOLAS), Client standards and best engineering practice· Adheres to Standing Orders posted by the Chief Engineer and ensures awareness and understanding of their contents, while adhering to all QHSE-related procedures· Adheres to the Vessel’s Permit to Work System for all jobs related to the Technical Department· Conducts daily, weekly and monthly check routines in accordance with the scheduling plans and as directed by the Duty Electricians. Corrects and reports on any fault(s) discovered· Responsible for good housekeeping in the Electrical workshop, ensuring it is kept in a clean and orderly manner free of hazards· Properly stores and secures spare parts and tools to avoid damage by humidity, corrosion or the Vessel’s movements at sea· To perform toolbox talksCertification required:BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBSSTCW Certificate of Proficiency Security AwarenessConfined Space Entry ModuleSTCW Seafarer MedicalOEUK MedicalShoulder MeasurementVocational or Maritime School Bachelor’s Degree with a minor in Ship Electronics, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
